The authorities of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District have approved the development of Salmanovsky OGCF on Gydan peninsula to build the Arctic LNG 2 liquefaction facility, as informed by the media office of the regional government.

“Salekhard hosted the presentation of “Development of pioneer access to Salmanovsky (Utrenniy) OGCF facilities” project, initiated by Arctic LNG 2. The discussion featured the department of natural and resource regulation of the YaNAD, as well as the representatives of indigenous minority of the North, Arctic R&DC, local agencies of federal authorities, and executive authorities of YaNAD and parliament. The session participants have concluded that the development activities can be regarded as adequate and conforming with Russian legislation,” — they said.

The department of natural and resource regulation of the YaNAD added that Salmanovsky field is located in the considerable remoteness from settlements and pipeline infrastructure.

“The deer migration routes are not disturbed by the pioneer access construction. The closest hydrocarbon fields under development are Yamburg and South Tambey. The EIA is carried out in compliance with Russian environmental legislation and based on componential approach: land resources, geologic environment, soil, vegetation, wildlife, hydrospace, and air basiin, “ — as explained in the department.
