The domestic gas producing company Yamal LNG is carrying out the project for the construction of LNG plant at present. The prospective enterprise was initially planned to be built in 3 stages based on the South Tambey field. The projected facility capacity was anticipated at 16,5 mtpa of gas.
However the company has recently announced the intentions to build the additional train, which will allow boosting capacity by a million tons of LNG annually. The new facility will be built in Sabetta village.
The company’s representatives announced public consultations on project documentation scheduled for the coming months. They also highlighted that EIA will be obtained by the end of November.
To recap, the principal shareholder of Yamal LNG is Novatek, sharing stakes with TOTAL, CNPC, and Silk Road Fund.
Novatek management informed that the first phase of the project will be commissioned at the end of this year. Completion of the second phase is scheduled for the next year, with the 3rd phase expected to be launched in 2019.
Commissioning of the 2rd and 3rd phases can be accelerated by 3 and 9 months correspondingly. The products will be sold to the APR and Europe.
Herewith, almost all yield of the future facility is already contracted.
