The commodity turnover through the Northern Sea Route has demonstrated a 20% growth at slightly reduced freight traffic in 2017, as informed by the Interim Head of Urals Customs Administration Maxim Chmora.

According to him, 2017 has also recorded the increase in Sabetta airport customs formalities (Yamal). “In nine months 2017 Sabetta hosted customs operations upon arrival of 40 aircrafts. The similar period last year registered only four…”, — he said.

Sabetta Airport is the northernmost air gate of Russia and one of the largest northern airports worldwide. The airport has a status of strategic facility for executing the ambitious project of LNG facility on Yamal.
